No resource limits, a minimal UI, simple (perhaps to a detriment) conveyor belts, Factory Magnate calls itself a casual factory builder for everyone. Where it’s hard to go wrong, easy to delete and rebuild, and no combat, it could possibly back up that claim.

The map, which is randomly generated and previewed, is just a simple grid with differing types of ground (sand, grass), or resource (copper, iron, forest, coal). You build on the grid, and your goal is to take what you’re creating and shove it into hub nodes to earn money. It’s very much a number go up, and the tutorial takes you through adding new machines (and giving you an upgrade to your machines) and how to combine them, though with the freedom to build however you want in order to achieve your goals.

I did find it hard to get conveyors to turn corners and still transfer materials until I got the upgraded router. The store page video says it should be possible, but perhaps there was a change between the time it was recorded and the current demo version.

The store page talks about how it’s intended to be a shorter and repeatable play experience that you can finish readily. It’ll be one to watch when it comes out in full for people looking for a more chill experience than some of the giants in the genre.
