Lumberboy – Frantic Forest Farming

Another logging game? Sure enough, the flannel clad Lumberboy spoke to me in the same way Spellogger did, though this is a very different game. Lumberboy is a action incremental game, where you work to gather as many logs as you can take back before you run out of daylight, stamina, or axe durability.

The concepts simple, the gameplays simple, you move and click to chop trees, pick up the logs and drop them in your crate. Logs not in your crate at the end of your run are lost. You then process them into boards back at town and get money, and money is used for upgrades. Repeat. Work it harder, make it better, do it faster, makes you stronger and all that.

Early on, you have a handful of seconds, it’s frantic, it’s fast, it is very good at pulling you in and getting you back out there. The progression feels rewarding enough in the demo version that I didn’t feel like I was just grinding for my next upgrade.

Anyway, I guess there isn’t much else to say, it’ll be your jam or not. The Lumberboy Demo is up now for Next Fest.
