So…you can build them, of course. Spellogger is a pixelated RPG with no enemies, but plenty of quests and a small open world and trees. Lots of trees, I think you can kinda get that from the name and capsule art though. Immaculate vibes, shame I bounced off the current tuning of it.

See, as much as you’re meant to be a starting out lumberjack, the game tutorializes little, but not really past a npc pointing you to nearby landmarks. The big challenge is trying to gather the initial materials you need to do anything. The trees have a defense stat, and as a starting adven…lumberjack, you lack the tools and strength to really hack down even the youngest softwoods. Even finding an upgraded axe in the wilds was not a significant enough jump in damage. Upgrading via the skill tree mostly gave me fatigue rather than strength and without better wood to burn in the hearth…you’re not really getting anywhere.

So, great vibes, seems like a wonderful world, I just don’t have the time or patience right now to get into a slow grind, or even much in the way of advice ingame on how best to proceed aside from running around for the one quest you have at the time. I was hoping the more experienced lumberjack you are led to meet would have advice on how to best chop a tree down. Maybe I missed a dialogue option, but seems like it was more for lore than to tutorial.

So, great vibes, but I think as the current demo for Spellogger stands, I think it’s not for me, but worth keeping an eye on and maybe returning to at a later date.
