So, I’ll be clear up front, I don’t think Cave Path is for me, but, I don’t think it’s a bad game. It’s got really short gameplay loops with it’s limited ammo and quick deaths, then grabbing upgrades and going back in.

You’re in a square space with rocks to mine on the outside, and after a time, skeletons will spawn from the dark and try to kill you. You don’t start off with a weapon, so you have to mine enough to buy the first node on the upgrade tree, a gun. Now you’ve got a gun and you can defend yourself…but with limited ammo. So it continues, you can hire an additional miner you can protect, who really, seems to mine a whole lot better than you do anyway, but you do have to pick up what they mine yourself. There is a bomb that…doesn’t do a whole lot. You can go into new levels of the mine that have better drops to earn money faster to upgrade faster.

The demo itself kicked me out after about 40 minutes, and I’m not sure if it’s time limited or some other factor. If this sort of thing sounds like your jam, the demo is part of Next Fest, on now.
